NEW! Song of Place: A natural history of the Baraboo Hills

Please join us on Tuesday December 8^th in Birge Hall on the UW-Madison campus for a talk by Ken Lange, former Devil’s Lake State Park Naturalist and author of various books on the Baraboo Hills. Lange’s most recent book is Song of Place: A natural history of the Baraboo Hills, which explores the people, geology, biology and ecology of the Baraboo Hills from the perspective of someone who knows them better than anyone else. Lange grew up in the Milwaukee area and spent time studying in Arizona and Madagascar before coming back to the Badger State to serve as the Park Naturalist at Devils Lake in 1966. For the next 50 years, he set out to understand the cliffs, forests, streams and prairies of this unique part of Sauk County. Song of Place is a result of that endeavor and will be the focus of his talk. Copies of the book will be available at the meeting for $35.
