Beginning on Tuesday October 18th The Botanical Club of Wisconsin, in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Herbarium, will resume our monthly meetings on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This year we will have presentations on botanical inventories of the Brule River State Forest and the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway, a talk on the history of the Wisconsin State Herbarium, a workshop on the identification of pondweeds, and, of course, an evening of Botanical Trivia! At our first meeting, we will review the 2016 field season, focusing on interesting botanical finds. Botanists from the Wisconsin DNR and UW will share their stories and collections, but others are encouraged to share as well. Did you find an endangered orchid? How about a new county record of a nasty non-native weed? Got a plant you just can’t identify? Attendees are invited to bring in specimens or photos of plants they found this year that were rare, unusual or otherwise interesting. In addition, Mary Ann Feist, curator of the Wisconsin State Herbarium, will talk about the new Flora of Wisconsin website and discuss some of its new features and plans for further improvements. We hope that you can join us!
